CAUTION!!! THIS PLACE SELLS ****/COUNTERFEIT ALCOHOL!!! I went to the establishment on Saturday. I ordered a bottle of Jameson. Upon arrival of the bottle, it was not properly sealed and did not make the click sound. After realising this, I took a smell of the product, and it did not smell like Jameson, in fact, it had a huge chocking stench that smelt like some raw spirit I have never encountered. This was also confirmed by my partner, and a few gents nearby. I immediately informed the waiter, and a replacement bottle was immediately brought to the table. Based on what happened with the first bottle, we decided to scan the QR code of the second bottle to check whether it was perhaps also counterfeit. The scan of the QR code proved that the second bottle was also counterfeit. Not wanting to make a scene, I immediately went to the manager and asked to speak to her outside. I advised her that the second bottle is also ****, the results of the QR scan, that it is ******* to sell counterfeit goods, and that it should be removed off our table and bill, and replaced with an original bottle. The manager advised me that the whole batch is the same and probably all ****, then after realising that what she was saying could get the establishment into trouble as she was aware that I had experience working with counterfeit goods, she immediately called the bouncers to stop me from going back into the venue. She immediately ran into the venue, and aggressively grabbed the bottle out of my partner’s hands before she could take pictures of the bottle as evidence, and escorted her out the venue. When I tried to approach the manager to ask her why we were being kicked out the venue for reporting the fact that they are dealing in counterfeit goods, and possibly take a picture of the bottle, she had one of the bouncer assault us and remove us from the entrance. The whole encounter made me realise that they are aware that they are selling counterfeit goods, and they have no regard for the health of their clients. In addition to this, they are willing to resort to ******** activities like assaulting customers who call them out of their behaviour. READERS, please note that dealing in counterfeit goods is ******* in terms of the Counterfeit Goods Act and can be reported to the SAPS. MOST ALARMING, consuming counterfeit goods can be detrimental/deadly, and can lead to alcohol poisoning, severe health conditions, organ failure etc. Please get used to scanning the QR codes available on goods, and immediately report or return **** goods, and stay away from such establishments.
