Whirlpool

This is an ODE to a ONCE great brand. My previous Whirlpool washing machine lasted me 35 years. How amazing is that?! However, when my Whirlpool could not be repaired as no parts apparently existed anymore, I was happy to go to Hirsch to buy a new model. Well, what an incredible disappointment that was. Three months in, the technology no longer worked. I have to now manipulate the Wash, Rinse and Spin buttons to get a computerised time to show and to get the washing done. This was the only advice I was given in this regard(by a Whirlpool technician) yet it is obvious that some of those times no longer appear automatically. I really detest the technology they now have on these machines as it takes my control of the washing out of my hands and places it in the hands of some computerised system. No longer can I decide for how long I want a washing cycle to last as the machine decides for me. Do they really think users of washing machines are that stupid? The heavy duty cycle is now more than 50 minutes where my old machine's cycle was about 30 minutes. You do the maths in terms of how much water is now used / wasted. I have a proposal for Whirlpool... please come and collect the new model and sell me an older, second-hand model as those models were worth their weight in gold. One of the reasons why I like a top loader, is that (with the old model) had I forgotten anything, I could just lift the top and add in the odd item or two. Now, the washing machine no longer allows me to do this. It starts the entire cycle over again. This has been the MOST DISAPPOINTING purchase ever.
