We will just have to buy a new dryer. But it definitely WON'T BE A WHIRLPOOL!!!
This happened in New York, but definitely needs to be shared with the rest of the world: 1. The Whirlpool dryer in the flat we are renting packed up. It is not yet four years old. 2. Whirlpool scheduled a service through their service provider in Manhattan, Dan Mark Factory, but for a whole week later! (Imagine being without a dryer for a week, with three little kids, and in Manhattan, where you can't just hang the washing outside.) We called Whirlpool to intervene, but they said there is nothing they can do. 3. When the great day came for the technician finally to arrive, the Whirlpool service provider (Dan Mark Factory) called to say the technician was sick and rescheduled the visit. We called Whirlpool to intervene, but they said there is nothing they can do. 4. We were away that day, so we left a key with the doorman, asking for the technician to leave us the invoice for payment. He came and left - he wouldn't even look at the dryer unless payment was arranged. We asked why we were not notified of that when we booked the service, and were told that it was up to Whirlpool, who scheduled the visit, to explain it to us. We called Whirlpool to intervene, but they said there is nothing they can do. 5. We had to schedule a new appointment, waiting for another week for the technician to finally arrive today. The technician gave one glance at the dryer, which is stacked on top of the washing machine, and refused to attend to it until someone lifts it off. He billed us $150, and went away. (We didn't call Whirlpool to intervene, because by now we know that there is nothing they can do....)
So, it looks like we will just have to buy a new dryer. But one thing for sure - with that service, IT WON'T BE A WHIRLPOOL!!!
