Oven to old at 3yr 10mnth

I am beyond disappointed with Whirlpool South Africa. My ovens timer started giving problems this year (My oven in 3yrs 10months old) and I logged a call in September. I was informed that the part needed had been discontinued by Whirlpool. After months of going back and forward with Whirlpool I was informed today that there is nothing they are prepared to do as the unit is out of warrantee. I asked if they could not give me another oven at cost and the answer was NO. How long should an oven last? I now have a very fancy mirror in my kitchen that has no function.

I commend the staff at the call center that I dealt with as they were professional and pleasant through all the phone calls.
