Extremely disappointing quality and even more disappointing after-sales service
I purchased a Whirlpool stove expecting the quality and durability associated with the brand. Unfortunately, my experience has been extremely disappointing.
After using the stove only approximately 10–15 times, the pot stands are already showing significant scratching and coating wear. I raised the issue with KIC/Whirlpool, expecting them to at least investigate whether the quality of the coating was acceptable.
Instead, after reviewing photographs, their Consumer Call Centre Supervisor, advised me that the damage is simply “normal operational wear” caused by pots making contact with the pot stands.
What I find particularly concerning is the explanation that this is to be expected because pots naturally move and make contact with the stands during cooking. In other words, I have essentially been told that I should expect a brand new stove’s pot stands to scratch and deteriorate after only a handful of uses.
**side note I also purchased brand new high-end cookware when buying my new stove, that is in the centre of my kitchen. And have been taking really good care of not dragging them across the stands. (To ensure both my stove and my pots stay in good condition for as long as possible.)
I understand that the stove/hob will experience some degree of contact with cookware. That is not the issue. The issue is the extent of the coating wear after only 10–15 uses, and whether the coating being used is actually fit for its intended purpose. (Only cleaned it with a non-abrasive microfiber cloth warm water and dishwashing soap.)
If this is genuinely considered “normal wear” by Whirlpool/KIC, then customers should surely be made aware that the finish on these pot stands is not expected to remain in good condition even with normal use.
What has made this experience even more frustrating is the complete lack of willingness to acknowledge the concern. The response has essentially been: this is normal, it is not a defect, and you should expect it to happen….
I am extremely disappointed not only in the apparent quality of the product, but particularly in the way my legitimate concern has been handled. A good brand should stand behind the quality of its products and, at the very least, properly investigate a complaint of premature deterioration rather than simply categorising it as “normal wear.”
#Whirlpool #KIC This is not about expecting a stove to remain completely untouched. It is about expecting reasonable durability and quality from a new appliance.
Someone should seriously look into ways of bettering your coating. Or you guys are cutting corners to make more margin…. I don’t know, but it’s just such a bad product and horrible response.
