Appliance repairs

I phoned Whirlpool’s customer centre and booked in a JetChef convection microwave for repairs. (This was in August 2016)

A technician came out to check what the problem was.

After the assessment, I was informed that a part had to be ordered, and once they have obtained the part I will be contacted to arrange for the part’s instalment.

The technician came to install the part, which turned out to be faulty. He then ordered another part.

After the second part arrived, he once again came to call to install the part. It then transpired that there was another part that was also faulty. At this point I asked that he take the microwave with him, and to let me know when the problem was sorted out.

At this point 2 months had already passed since my original call to Whirlpool. (It took about a month each time to order the parts)

Towards mid-November I realised that I still had not heard back from Whirlpool, but as it was a crazy time at work, I could not phone. And I know that most places close over December for Christmas and New Year.

In January I phoned the customer centre again to enquire about the job.

At this point I started to realise that the communication between the different departments at Whirlpool is almost non-existent. I was given a series of different answers to what the progress of the job was as well as being asked phone different departments. One of the more worrying of these were that the microwave as sent back the store it was purchased from and was, to paraphrase, “Picked up by someone”.

After wasting a lot of time on the phone to various departments, I decided to write an email explaining my frustration of the events above. This was on January 31st 2017.

I was later that day phone by one of the people in the customer service centre.

My original job was then closed, and a new job created.

At this point, I was told that Whirlpool could not fix my microwave. Whirlpool would reverse the store credit (If it was given) and handle the replacement of the microwave internally.

On the 14th February I received an email stating that the store credit will be passed. And I will need to go to the store to sort it out.

I then rep**** and asked what I would need to use as a reference when I am at the store to redeem the store credit. Reference number was then email to me. I was also informed that I could speak to a sales consultant.

On Saturday (February 18th 2017) I went to the store. After asking the sales consultants, once again being shunted from one staff member to the other. We finally found that the reference number was not valid at the store. I was then asked to contact Whirlpool on Monday.

Today (Monday, February 20th 2017) I phoned a few times and I was adamant to speak to a manager.

I was however resigned to speak to one of the call agents, as I could not get hold of a manager.

I was then informed that I needed to phone Whirlpool’s credit department as there was a form I needed to fill out before the credit will be given.

I proceeded to phone the credit department. After giving the reference number that was email to me, I was asked for the job number. I was then informed that the reference number was not even on their system, and according to the job detail the credit was never given.

I then emailed the agent that gave me the store credit, and explained the events of the weekend at the store. I did not get any reply!

I find it ridiculous that this has been dragging on 6 months. I have lost all faith in Whirlpool, and will NOT be so keen on any of their products in future.
