A word to the wise - spares unavailable

A word to the wise: don't buy expensive kitchen appliances that are not locally manufactured! Also, don't waste your money on extended warranties through Hirsch!<br> <br> My built-in Whirlpool Microwave oven (at an original purchase price of R6999.00) mysteriously ceased to work between one day and the next in late October. I logged a call through Hirsch, who sent in a technician and then ordered the parts. However, the parts are not available in the country and will not be available until the end of November when they are due to arrive by sea. With containers having to be cleared at customs and all the other formalities and procedures, I would be surprised if my microwave is fixed by Christmas.<br> <br> The service and spares manager at Whirlpool simply brushes me off and refers me back to Hirsch. So I wait - and we think government departments are inefficient and disorganised - surely a company like Whirlpool should be ashamed of their poor systems when they have no spares available.
