BIGGEST REGRET OF 2024

DO NOT USE THEM IF YOU ARE FROM DURBAN!!!

I was tired of my high bills from Ethekwini, I decided to get Solar, I did my research and buying a system proved to be unaffordable, so I decided to pay monthly and used Wetility after reading the reviews on this site. Turns out the reviews were wrong. The solar system was installed on 1 November, a team came in and spent an entire day with the installation of 8panels, inverter, battery, etc. without the ACTUAL electrician being on site, he then came by at around 5pm after everything was installed just to connect all the wiring. This electrician rushed through the installation and was also taking calls in between wrt other jobs he had done. They briefly explained what was done how it will work and what we should do. I was also told that they need to come back to install a device to assist with the geyser to save electricity cost this is called PLENTIFY.

The electrician came to install the plentify the following week, After that was installed, the very next day after the plentify was installed the geyser didnt work. I called them and told them to remove it as I already have the geyserwise system and do not want unnecessary issues, they came back and said the plentify is faulty and they basically unplugged it but left it behind even though its not working and they would bring a new device. I had already contacted plentify via email prior to them coming in, to see if it was something I could resolve. Plentify then sent their own contractor who came by and was very pleasant to work with, they tried and tried but couldnt get it to work, they said unfortunately they dont know what the problem is and could be because of the solar geyser system we have. I accepted this and didnt mind because I dont really need or want the plentify system.

So after the solar installation a few days later we started noticing the system is not functioning as it should be, We noticed that when the power was off in the neighbourhood ours also went off even though we had solar, this should not have happened. So we contacted wetility again, they over the phone told me to do different things to try and see what was the cause, when they couldnt figure it out, they informed the installers who sent a new team, they came by and said 1 of the switches which is supposed to be on the main DB box inside the house was not there, they connected that switch and said everything will be fine. Lo and behold it happened again, this time another set of technicians came and found that the switches were mislabelled and said NOW everything will work 100%. Fast forward 3 weeks later Saturday 21/12 we noticed power had gone off and come back in the middle of the night, Neighbours were fine and had no issues so it had to be something wrong with the solar. We decided we would wait until Monday to ask for the technicians to come by. It happened again last night / early this morning 22/12, eskom didnt even kick in which it should have when the solar goes off. We had to manually move the switch to eskom so that we could have electricity. Wetility does not have a call center number to call when there are issues leave alone after hours. I hate having to call the Sales person who by the way is THE MOST FRIENDLY, UNDERSTANDING AND EFFICIENT person in the company, her name is Sherizaan, because this surely is not her job.

I regret my decision going with wetility, because prior to this we only had to worry about not having electricity when there was no power in the area and the high municipal bill. I really DO NOT need this additional stress in my life!

PS. Be careful who you choose for subscription solar!
