Police inaction in Gugulethu SAPS

Yesterday evening the 20 May 2018 my mother was involved in a traumatic hijacking in Gugulethu NY 134 where our car was taken at gunpoint. The car a white Isuzu Bakkie registration number: BT 63 KP GP. A case was lodged at the SAPS office in Gugulethu on the same day. What is most disheartening is that till now we do not have a case number and there has been no action from the police to recover the vehicle or apprehend the suspects.

We have just been to the police station on 21 May 2018 12:15 pm, instead of a service of reassurance we have been given an atrocious service at first encounter by Constable Muteni at the help desk who refused to give his full names. Could not give us the turnaround time for the case to be lodged and assigned to a detective. According to Muteni no action can be taken unless the case has been lodged on the system, therefore they have not taken any steps in searching for the suspects or the car. Constable Muteni was not helpful at all not only was he rude, he was very arrogant towards us even telling us we can report him if we want, he had no name badge and no uniform.

What is troubling about this is that the suspects are still at large and could be causing havoc in our neighbourhood as they are armed and dangerous. The car used for the hijacking is another car that was hijacked in Gugulethu which we have found out through social media. There is a spike in ******ies and hijackings in our neighbourhood and the service offered by our police only exaggerates the scourge even more. We have reported the matter to the station Commander who just gave us excuses of them experiencing a backlog due to rains.

The police inaction in Gugulethu SAPS office has left us having no confidence in our police and not feeling safe because the people entrusted with our safety are inadequate and lack empathy. Please help change things in our area. We have a crime problem in the country and the police are only encouraging it by this horrible service.
