I feel it is important to share my experience with West Coast Personnel, specifically with Oona Kriedemann. I app**** for a position advertised by West Coast Personnel because I have the relevant qualifications, skills and experience. After not hearing anything, I followed up on my application. I was then informed that West Coast Personnel could not entertain my application because I had been dismissed by my previous employer. What shocked me was that no one phoned me, interviewed me or gave me an opportunity to explain the circumstances surrounding my previous employment. I explained that I believe I was unfairly dismissed, but that made no difference. A decision had already been made without anyone taking the time to hear my side. In my opinion, this is **************. I believe I was discriminated against because of a disputed dismissal instead of being assessed on my qualifications, experience and ability to perform the job. I have dealt with many other recruitment agencies, and not one has treated me this way. Every other recruiter has allowed me to explain my situation, with some even acknowledging that workplace disputes happen and that one disputed dismissal should not define a person's career. Job seekers deserve to be assessed fairly and on their own merits, not rejected based on assumptions or a single event in their employment history without being given an opportunity to explain. I expected a professional recruitment agency to give candidates a fair chance. Instead, I was judged before I was heard. I hope West Coast Personnel reviews its recruitment practices so that future applicants are treated with fairness, dignity and respect.
