Weom Apartments in Sandton

To all people looking to stay at Weom Apartments in Sandton, I give you a warning: Don't do it!

To say that this was the worst experience with accommodation, would be putting it mildly. I travel very often for work, so I am not disillusioned when it comes to protocol at different hotels but never have I ever come across such in my life.

Myself and 3 friends rented a two bed and had 2 other friends over for dinner. We got a little spirited in our discussions and were asked by the security to keep things quieter. This happened once. To comply we decided to move from the balcony to the bedroom so that our voices wouldn't carry. A little while later we get our lights turned off. Two of us then go to find out what the .after was only to find a livid security guard at our door. He claims that we were still being loud and as such he turned the lights off.

He then asks us to call the manager to get them back on. We do so. The manager says the issue isn't the tv noise or music, it's our voices that carry apparently. We then tell her that it could be that we had 2 friends o at for dinner, so we would ask them to leave and that should solve the issue. She agrees and says the lights will go back on.

After about 20 min, the lights are still off. So myself and a friend go down to find out why. When we arrive downstairs , we are met by 4 men with guns and tazers. Apparently the security guard decided that he could not trust that only 4 people would be sleeping in the apartment and the rest leaving, so he called their armed response unit to "count the heads". We were alarmed at the escalation given only 2 conversations were had about pound voices but okay, we let them go up to count the heads and be comfortable.

When they get to the unit, they them say that they wish to body search us. Now please note that only women were in the apartment and the armed unit was all men, so we refused. We also failed to understand what body searches had to do with noise. This turned into an altercation because the the men refused to leave and kept insisting on body searching.

The security guard who called the unit then tells us that he called the director and they want us to leave the premises. Mind you this is 10pm at night. I then all the manager and insist that if she wants us to leave in the middle of the night, just because we are uncomfortable with being body searches by men in guns, who were supposed to be there for a noise complaint, then I want a full refund. She agrees and we leave but can I tell you I have not received any money back, and she is not answering my or any of my friends calls.

Also I have never felt so terrified and violated in my life than to be asked to be strip searched for noise??!!! Absolutely disgusting behaviour. Can't believe they let this go on on their premises. Letting women be man handled for no apparent reason. But anyway, you have been warned.
