Weelee . Horrid Aftersales Experience and Questionable Business Policy

I bought a vehicle from Weelee at the end of April. It was a deal financed by Standard bank so not a voetstoots transaction.

After a long search for aa new set of wheels for my wife, she fell in love with this little vehicle at Weelee. We knew it wasn't a brand-new car and didn't expect it to be fixed in any way that related to the cosmetic condition we saw on the floor, but at least we expected, by dealing with Weelee, that it would be mechanically sound and that all it's functions will be in working order, if not declared otherwise during the sales process.

I guess my naivety got the better of me.

We picked up a problem with the vehicle when we drove it home after delivery and sent our salesperson the video we recorded of the noise from the engine the next day.

We also took the vehicle back to Weelee so they can have a look at it and the workshop said that it is a Pulley on the engine that needed to be replaced but that the vehicle is ok to drive until the parts can be ordered to repair the problem the vehicle obviously left the dealership with.

A week went by without any word from Weelee so we followed up with the salesperson who then said that the workshop manager informed him that this has to be done under the warrantee I paid for on the vehicle, This seems unfair as this was a problem the vehicle left the Weelee showroom floor with and obviously should be something that was roadworthy relevant, thus should have been attended to when the COR was done and before it left the floor. Surely not for MY account a day after taking delivery, that seems preposterous, does it not?

My wife noticed that the vehicle struggled to gain momentum in areas where it should be no problem at all for it to travel. we kept at the salesperson to assist us with a time to return the vehicle for the repairs. yet crickets.

Eventually after daily follow ups from our side, we were informed to bring the car in on Thursday 16 May, more than 2 weeks after we took delivery and reported the problem to Weelee directly, even taking the car back to them to resolve the issue immediately.

The car was becoming noisier every day so I informed Weelee that we will bring it in on the afternoon of Wednesday 15 May so it can be there ready to go to the workshop on Thursday.

On our way to Weelee on Wednesday 15 May, to take the car (that their workshop deemed safe to drive 2 weeks before and that went got a COR before we took delivery) in to be repaired, it had a total clutch/gearbox malfunction on the way there that left my wife who is the regular driver of the vehicle, and our 2 kids, stranded next to the side of the road in peak traffic. Luckily, I was not too far away.

We called our salesperson who in turn spoke to the workshop manager. a flatbed tow truck was sent to collect the car and was taken to a workshop somewhere in Hennopspark.

This was now more than 2 weeks ago. to this day I have not even had a curtesy call from the workshop manager to inform me where our vehicle is or what exactly went wrong and what the repair time and process will be. I find this unacceptable.

I chose to go with Weelee and not a competitor that is right up the road because I believed their reputation is better as well as the class of vehicle they do put on their floors.

My disappointment is immense, and I have been forced to dissuade friends and colleagues from considering Weelee as an option when they ask me about the vehicle my wife was so excited about and now has to go through this tribulation and seriously unprofessional level of aftersales service.

Not only is the vehicle being a lemon, but the support, feedback, and general level of service I have received is also terrible.

I hoped Weelee would be different than all the horror stories one hears of these types of outfits, but unfortunately it seems that it’s the same thing just a different logo and colour scheme.

I would appreciate a call and feedback in WRITING as soon as possible.

I did send this complaint to Weelee, and informed them that I will also send this to Standard Bank Vehicle Finance as well as Hello Peter. People need to know that all that glitters is not gold with Weelee.
