Webbs Arms Terrible service

Once again, I have been utterly disappointed, disgusted, and ****** from ****erally) by what would be considered a long-standing business in Port Elizabeth, Webbs Arms.

On the 21st of July 2021 I went to visit Webbs Arms with good intentions of purchasing a firearm. The sales consultant at the time presented three firearms to me for testing and after the testing, on the spot I did an EFT to purchase one of the firearms. I did an EFT of R8500, and proof of payment was to be sent to the buyer (according to the sale consultant) to secure the purchase. Once this was in order the firearm would be in the shop within a week. After a week, I visited the shop and there the firearm was, sealed in the case, brand new.

Note that there was a massive backlog with new police firearm competencies from the police station and I was only awarded my police competency two years later (13 June 2023)

28 July 2023 I visited Webbs Arms to ask the Arms dealer ***ner of the business) to write my motivation. When I was asked for which firearm, I explained which one I bought to which the owner had no idea what I was talking about. I was asked for my inventory storage number/certificate. I was confused and asked what they were talking about as I never received one? (This is generally given to customers to safeguard a firearm that has been purchased to be sold to another individual and/or for testing purposes.). As a first-time firearm purchaser, I did not know of such a certificate. I then asked for the owner to check the firearms register as I had the barrel number (very smart of me to do this to verify the firearm) to which we found that the firearm I bought was sold to another gentleman. The owner being very frustrated by this matter still acted in good faith and said the firearm will be replaced at no additional costs. The sales consultant that helped me in 2021 according to the shop assistant does not work there anymore.

Note because I never received the inventory certificate and my name did not appear in the firearm register next to the barrel number, this firearm was not legally linked to me, but my money had been taken from me – which we also discovered was paid into an account that the owner could not identify. I had no reason to doubt the sale consultant at the time! So much for having trustworthy employees.

Here is where the terrible service occurs. 2 August 2023 I sent an email to Webbs Arms to follow up on the arrival of my firearm and to state that despite what has happened I still want to continue with business. 2 August 2023 I received an email from the owner of Webbs Arms to say that the supplier will have stock next week and that I will be kept informed on the matter.

2 August 2023 I rep**** and thanked the owner of Webbs Arms for this and said that I would be in touch.

28 August 2023 I sent an email to Webbs Arms to find out if the supplier had sent the firearm and if there was an update on my motivation. NO REPLY!

5 September 2023 I sent an email to Webbs Arms again to find out if there was an update on this matter. NO REPLY!

14 September 2023 I sent an email to Webbs Arms once again to find out if there have been any updates on the firearm and motivation. No Surprise here, NO REPLY!

26 September 2023 At this point I have had enough, and I sent an email to Webbs Arms clearly stating that I no longer want to continue this “correction process”. I sent through my banking details requesting a refund of the R8500 and that the motivation can also be cancelled as clearly no workings on this occurred since the 28th of July 2023. Guess what? NO REPLY! Note at this point the number of emails I’m sending and to add insult to this journey, I visited the shop THREE times to which the owner was not even there – ALL THREE TIMES!!!

6 October 2023 I sent an email to Webbs Arms to say that I visited the shop, you as the owner was not in. I left two verbal messages with the shop assistant to give you the message of refunding me and I’ve not heard anything. No surprise, NO REPLY!

16 October 2023 I sent an email to Webbs Arms (06:37AM) to request a date that I can expect my refund and a summary of this entire process regarding the communication. Reply pending.

18 October 2023 17:44 PM more than 48hours later and no response.

In summary, I HAVE BEEN communicating via email (paper trail of this in hand), visiting the shop and I am getting nowhere. I have requested a refund of R8500 as there was nothing wrong with my money on the day of 21 July 2021. I feel that I have been misled, **** to and have been ****** from, I feel like I am a victim of financial theft!!! Considering the amount of communication and efforts from my side, I think its safe to say that I have been EXTREMELY PATIENT to get to this point of a review! I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS OR RECOMMEND THIS BUSINESS TO ANYONE!!!!
