⭐ Terribly Bad Review: Watermeyer Park Shopping Centre On 23 February 2026, between 10:00 and 10:45, myself and five of my colleagues—a multiracial group—arrived at Watermeyer Park Shopping Centre. Three of us stepped out to visit different stores for our needs. I personally went to Plato Coffee. When I returned to my vehicle, barely 15 minutes later, myself and some of my colleagues were approached by a car guard/security guard who told us we needed to leave because we had “been there too long.” This was not only factually untrue, but deeply offensive. I confronted the guard and asked why we were being told to leave. I specifically asked whether this so‑called rule app**** to every shopper, or whether we were being targeted and profiled. Because from where we stood, it was very clear that no white shoppers were being approached or harassed in the same manner. The guard insisted he was “following orders from Watermeyer management.” He continued to tell us to move, even though one of our colleagues was still inside Woolworths shopping. The entire interaction left us feeling racially profiled, singled out, and mistreated. The guard’s attitude was rude, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. If he was truly acting on instructions from management, then Watermeyer Park Shopping Centre is directly responsible for this discriminatory behaviour. And let me be very clear: I strongly doubt a white shopper would have been approached like that. In a country with South Africa’s history, it is unacceptable—absolutely unacceptable—to still be treated this way in 2026. I live 2 kilometres from this centre, but after this experience, I would rather drive much further to a different shopping centre than ever support Watermeyer Park again. What happened to us was wrong, discriminatory, and completely out of line. Watermeyer Park Shopping Centre should be ashamed.
