I engaged Watergate Leak Detection to identify and repair a leak in my swimming pool. I initially paid more than R5,000 for their leak-detection service. Following their assessment, they claimed to know exactly what the problem was. Before authorising any further work, I specifically asked whether the pool piping needed to be replaced. I was told that replacement was unnecessary and that they could resolve the problem by repairing and relining the existing pipelines. Based on their professional advice, I paid a further R25,242.50 for the work. Their invoice states that the return line and weir were relined using their Spraypoxy method and that a CCTV inspection was performed to verify the integrity of the pipelines. Despite these assurances, the pool continued leaking after the work was completed. When I contacted Watergate approximately one week later, I was told that I would need to pay another R5,000 for them to return and inspect the same problem they had supposedly identified and repaired. I refused, because I had already paid a substantial amount for a solution that had not worked. The receptionist initially advised that they would not return unless I made the additional payment. I found her manner rude, dismissive and focused primarily on demanding further payment, rather than taking responsibility for the unsuccessful repair. After I eventually managed to speak to the owner, they returned to inspect the pool. I was then told that they would come back to me with a solution. That was more than six months ago. Throughout this period, we have continued trying to engage with Watergate, have followed up repeatedly and have been extremely patient in giving them an opportunity to resolve the matter. Unfortunately, their lack of communication and failure to provide a solution gives the impression that they simply do not care once payment has been received. They later suggested that the piping may need to be replaced the exact concern I raised before paying the R25,242.50 and was specifically told was unnecessary. My experience has left me with no confidence in their diagnosis, workmanship or after-sales service. I paid more than R30,000 in total, re**** on their professional advice, and the original leak remains unresolved. The pool has continued losing water, while Watergate has failed to provide any meaningful remedy, explanation or accountability. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Watergate Leak Detection. Prospective customers should obtain independent assessments, insist on a written diagnosis and warranty, and carefully consider alternative service providers before committing to expensive repair work.

Quite a useless service with terrible billing and customer service. I called in Watergate to pinpoint the area of water loss in my pool as I knew there was a leak. I told them clearly I could see by the drop in water levels that the pool was leaking. I spoke to Justin about escalating charges before I confirmed the job. Very soon after the inspection all I received was another bill with an extra hour of work and more gas charge. I rep**** telling them I could confirm via my cctv that they were not at my home for more than 1 hour and received a response that it was just a mistake. I asked for proof of gas usage and have been told they are now using a method to verify the quantity of gas because they didn’t have one before me. The report was useless because all it confirmed was a leak I already knew with no solution of remedy besides the obvious which is seal the leak
