Animal Welfare first and foremost

I have read some of the reviews on this page and I feel compelled to answer. I have been involved in all forms of Charity for 30 years now. I have qualified (28 years ago) as a voluntary inspector for animal welfare. I have spent many, many hours volunteering at numerous animal shelters and (no offense at all to the others, all are doing fantastic work) Woodrock is my absolute favourite. I have also adopted many rescue animals. A Woodrock animal's welfare comes first and foremost. They are very strict with the vetting process. They are NOT unreasonable, they only ensure their animals are placed in homes that treat them as children. No parent lets their child sleep outside, leaves them unattended for long periods of time, lets them play in unsecure areas or lets their children have baby after baby. Each animal will be placed with the best possible home no matter how long it takes. Woodrock does not release animals just for the sake of lessening the volume of rescues in their kennels. The animals have a home away from home at Woodrock. They have their own rooms equipped with heaters, aircons, their own private little run and plenty of the best food. Daily the animals are taken to the "play and tickle" area, taken on long walks through the surrounding fields and have a Vet based on the premises. Any sick or injured animal receives only the best care, whether it be medication, physio or even exercise in their hydro pool. There is also qualified behavioural the******s for the traumatised, untrained babies. Before anyone complains about the strict vetting service they should properly research the lives these animals have come from, the facilities available and relook at their own pets treatment. All honesty, I would also find it difficult to be polite to somebody who leaves their kids to sleep outside and expect an adoption agency to be okay with that. As with children, pets are a huge responsible undertaking and must be taken as seriously. How your current pets are being treated is a sure sign of how your new pet will be treated. I fully understand being heartsore that a failed applicant cannot adopt a pet they had their heart set on but understand, you are not doing any animal a favour by removing it from Woodrock to an unsuitable home. The solution is easy. Bring your pets inside, sterilise them, train them, have a suitable area for the pet you commit to, spend as much time loving them as you can. I would recommend Woodrock to absolutely anyone suitable wanting to adopt. Woodrock is also my first point of call if help is needed for any animal. In the 15 years since I met them, they have never let me down. Keep up the great work Woodrock! This world needs you.
