100% Downtime since signing on.

I bought and paid for a 4MBps Home Owner ADSL promotion package from Waltons Cloud Store on 15 July 2016. The rate is pro-rata (R94.87). The website address is https://www.waltonscloudstore.co.za

Friday: At home I tried to connect, but there is no connection even though the router had no problem connecting to other ISPs. I emailed support with gave me a request ID from Ignite support but no other feedback.

Saturday: I phoned support and got transferred to Ignite, who says they don't deal with Waltons Cloud Store clients but says they will contact the person on standby by Waltons Cloud Store. A few hours later I received a call from Waltons Cloud Store who proceeded to spend half an hour with me checking my password and my connection settings even though I explained to him that my router has no problems connecting to other ISPs. Eventually the person says maybe it's just a delay in registration and I will get connection soon.

Monday: Still no connection. I phoned support which again put me through to Ignite. This time the support staff tested my account on their side. No connectivity. The person says he will contact me later. He did not do so, but I did receive an email saying my service request has been escalated.

Tuesday: Still no connection. I phoned support who admits that there is a general problem affecting all their accounts and he will contact me later.

Wednesday: Still no connection. I will be cancelling this service because I have spent too many frustrating hours trying to connect and waiting for Waltons Cloud Store to fix the problem. I see on the website they are still running the promotion.

Good luck to whoever signs up but be aware that there is one person that has wasted his time and money signing up. Also note that although the promotion was advertised as unshaped, after you paid and login in to the user account you will see it says 5 star, which presumably is Internet Solutions 5 tier star shaping system. My current ISP (ISAT) also uses a 5 star system and applies the it 24/7 and throttles me whenever I hit the top 20% (even though most bandwidth are consumed by the top 5% of users and not the remaining 95% and even though I try limit my downloads to after midnight). I cannot verify if Waltons Cloud Store will behave in a similar fashion as there is no connectivity at all but you should take that into consideration. Also note that Waltons require RICA and more than a months notice for cancellation, whereas Axxess, Afrihost, Crystalweb, Imaginet etc allows you to cancel within the month if you say cancel before 19-23rd of the month.

I have sent in my cancellation and I see that it says it will expire on 2016-08-01 so the 30 day notice may not apply but I will need to first wait and see if I get billed in August.

Update: Service is up Wednesday afternoon. I was told it should not happen again. I have confirmed that the account can be cancelled anytime before 25th. Shaping is 24/7 and gets throttled on 1 star. Since I have paid for the service, I have decided to retry the service and see how it goes.
