Incompetence at DLTC Waltloo
I went to renew my driver's licence at the Waltloo DLTC on 15 October 2020. I arrived at 8am. There were long queues and no indication of which queue to join for what purpose. After standing in the queue for 4 hours we were informed that all 7 of the machines had broken down and that we had to return later. Pensioners would be exclusively assisted on 28 October. I returned on 28 October at 7.30am and joined a much shorter queue. Things progressed very slowly. After 2 hours and once inside the building there were only 3 out of 8 service points active. Then I had to join another queue to pay. By 2pm I was finally in the finance department where there was only 1 cashier out of 8 on duty. It took more than 6 hours of queuing and frustration to pay for a renewal. Why can the service point of first instance not do the whole transaction? Why is there never sufficient staff available to assist? Why is there no indication of which queue to join?
