Non payment of full deposit and interest after 19 years occupation.

I have lived at the same address for 19 years, this block of flats has been administered by Wakefields all this time. At the end of April 2019 all the tennants were notified that we would have to vacate the premises by the end of May and that the deposit plus interest would be paid out after inspection of the flat within a week of vacation. By the 8th July I had only received half the deposit and no interest. It had taken many, many phone calls to Wakefields and being given a different story each time by the same person. I then spoke to the inspectors manager who passed me on to the accounts department. After many calls to this person I received half the deposit and no interest. When I queried this Kasturi in accounts said that there had been no allocation to deposits despite me paying the increase each year to match the increase in rent. A friend who is a chartered accountant took over for me and spoke to Kasturi who told her the same thing and that without proof of allocation to deposits by Wakefields the rest of the deposit cannot be paid. I wonder why the R3258.00 had been allocated at the bigging when the deposit started at R1150 19 years ago why was it not allocated after a few years. I feel there is *******ion going on and whoever is involved has been protected because Wakefields will not do an internal investigation. I also wonder why the non allocated extra money was noticed by an audit which should be done annually. I certainly would never recommend that anybody use a property that is being administered by Wakefields. I am desperate for this deposit money to pay the new landlord his deposit. Karen Griffin
