Flat vacated but deposit not debited
I used to be a tenant on a property that was managed by Wakefields Property Management. I served my one month notice in the month of April 2015. An inspection was done and a report drafted. I was told that they needed to get the last statement from the municipality to settle my electricity account in order for them to refund me my deposit. To this day I have still not received my deposit nor do I know how much will be deducted. It seems clear to me that Wakefields will never do anything unless we complain elsewhere like in this forum. As this is not the first time I am reporting their bad service. I just want my money so that I can cut all ties with them and to think I was considering buying property through them.
Your complaint lodged with Hellopeter has been investigated and we can confirm that your original deposit plus interest, totalled R 6184.57. From that we used R 1005.53 towards the outstanding utilities and rent owed by yourself, and we refunded R 3823.64 to you on 17 June 2015.
The balance, an amount of R 1355.40 was held while waiting for the latest utilities bill in order to finalise your usage as you vacated on 30 April 2015 but we had not yet received electricity bills until that date.
As we no longer manage the property on behalf of the landlord, we stopped receiving the municipal bills which delayed finalizing this matter, which was communicated to you by Sue Naidoo with the most recent communication to you being 1 July. We managed to get the municipality to send us a bill nonetheless and your usage has therefore been finalised and is an amount of R782.24. I can confirm that this has been communicated to you and an EFT for your benefit has been completed today for an amount of R573.16 (R1355.40 - R782.24).
Kind regards,
Wakefields Property Management
