Am I the only one they have done this too.......
This Dealership sold me a "Brand New" vehicle which was previously bumped and repaired.
I purchased a new VW Polo 1.0 TSI DSG and took collection of the vehicle on the 17.5.2018 . Since then I was driving the vehicle and never had a problem. On Sunday(02.12.2018) an error appeared on the screen saying I should check the bonnet. When doing so I found that the right head light was more forward than the left light. Well I never thought anything of it and advised my wife that I will ask VW which ever branch will service the car to check it and maybe align it. On the 05/12/2018 the vehicle went to VW Rivona for a service cause they are close to my office in Sunninghill and closer to my wife in Morningside.
When my wife went to collect the vehicle the Service Technicians told her that the car was previously bumped and repaired in the front. They said it might have rolled into something or someone drove into it and fixed it. She explained that this is a brand new car and was never scratched yet alone bumped in our possession. She called me advising me of this and I immediately call David(Sales Manager) at Westgate VW asking him if this was the case. David de Beer told me to bring the vehicle inn to check it. David’s exact words to me was that it might have been in a place where the vehicle had been sprayed or something he is not sure but I should bring the vehicle to him to see.
When I got home late afternoon I inspected the vehicle by rubbing my hand around the front of the vehicle and found that not only is the right front headlight lose and the clip broken as we were advised by VW Rivonia but there are more overspray at the bottom of the front bumper as well and also so on the right fender. Looking at the car one will never say but rubbing your hand over the car you can distinctly feel the unevenness of the spray-paint.
The same evening (05.12.2018) I contacted the sales agent Sello from VW in the evening requesting the Dealer Principal’s number and he advised that he does not have it and he (Sello) was on leave. He will only be back in the office on the 07.12.2018. He then asked me if he was in trouble? Rather odd to me and I just said no why and he could not answer. We then ended the conversation.
The next morning (06.12.2018) my wife and I entered the Dealership and the gentleman(Sello) who supposed to be on leave was at his desk and never made contact with us at all.
We met with David(Dawie)this morning(06.12.2018) where I explained the situation to him, he examined the vehicle and I explained my frustration about this to him and he provided me with the dealer principals e-mail address well as the contact number for VW_SA hence I have spoken Riette Saunders and Charmain Mann there.
I referred this matter to VWSA and no positive response received from them as they are siding with the Dealership who advised that they are willing to repaire the vehicle and not replace the vehicle because it has more than 15000kms on it and was few days older than 6 months at the time of the latent defect discovery.
I have since taken the vehicle to AA-DEKRA for an inspection and took a day off work and paid R853.00 because the Dealer Principal at VW Westgate(Anton Pillay) said that VW Rivonia is not qualified to check the vehicle and to make such accusations. AA-DEKRA confirms the vehicle was bumped and was previously repaired.
I took this matter to the Motor industry Ombud of South Africa(MIOSA) and never received feedback from them as yet as they are closed until the 14.1.2019.
I referred this matter to the Wesbank-VWFINANCE(Ronelle Oosthuizen/ Cameron Scott-Crossley/Michael Barrett ) and they never received feedback from David De Beer(Sales Manager at McCarthy VW Westgate) and or Anton Pillay(Dealer Principal) to date.
After numerous communication between myself and VWSA and the Dealership to date no positive assistance has been received.
I actually feel ****** by VW
