VW Menlyn money making schemes

I took my car in for it's 120 000KM service and half way into the day they called me and told me that my water pump is leaking and my cambelt is cracked. I told them to check my service book because the water pump and cambelt was done on 105 000km, they never called me back. Only when I called them an hour later they told me that the mechanic missed it in the service book and they are working on my car. when I made the booking for my car I told them that the cambelt and everything was done at 105 000km and I only need a minor service

Missing it in the book is okay but now the mechanic told me that the water pump is leaking and my cambelt is cracked, that means he should have checked in the car self, which he did not do. If he did, he would have spotted that it was replaced consider he knows what he is doing. So how is it that an hour later nothing was wrong and they are doing the service? Replacing the water pump and the cambelt would have cost an additional +/-R22 000, so looks like this is just a money making schemes and the car was never check like they should have. Considering that the service was "done", how does one believe that it was in fact done as I no longer have trust in VW Menlyn This is now the 3rd time in the last 4 months I had issues with VW Menlyn, and now after this I don't think I will take my car to them again.
