Almost 2 months and still waiting for a part from Germany???? Pathetic service from VW Menlyn!!!

My brand new GOLF VII 2.0 GTI DSG with only 50800 kms started overheating on 26 May 2016 and had to be towed in to a VW dealership. It was towed into the WV Menlyn dealership on that date. This was not the only problem that I have experienced with this supposedely brand new car. I have written to VW SA with all the problems that I have had, but they have indicated that since they were not party to the sales transaction they cannot assist. I have also contacted the VW garage where I purchased the vehicle from and they have indicated that I need to contact VW SA. So at this point in time, everyone is passing the buck to each another.

At the date of this review (13 July 2016), my vehicle is still not fixed. It took the entire Friday (27 May) and part of Monday morning (30 May) just to get a diagnosis and indication of which part is faulty. I was told by the VW Menlyn garage consultant that the cooling unit is faulty and has to be replaced. I was also told that the rear view mirror is faulty and will also be replaced. At that point they indicated that the parts have been ordered and should arrive by Wednesday 1 June. I got my vehicle back on 2 June 2016, but the rear view mirror was not replaced. The "stop/start' on the vehicle is also not functioning properly, as it does not switch off many a times when I come to a complete halt. The "start/stop" was functioning properly prior to the vehicle overheating and being "fixed" by the VW Menlyn garage.

My husband called the VW Menlyn garage on 14 June to find out why the rear view mirror was not replaced and there is an error message that came on when the "brights" were turned on. The pathetic service consultant (Simonne Docherty) stated that she needed to find out why this was not done. She called my husband after a while and indicated that the part was ordered from Germany and they were still waiting for it. A month later we have not heard back from her and are wondering how long the part would take to come. I find it surprising that the part had to be "ordered from Germany" despite VW having a factory in Uitenhage where cars are assembled.

I also had to hire a courtesy vehicle at my own expense, while my vehicle was being "fixed" by the VW Menlyn garage. I on numerous occasions requested them to provide me with a vehicle, but they could not assist me (or so the service consultant indicated).

I AM EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED WITH THE FACT THAT THIS IS A NEW GOLF VII 2.0 GTI DSG AND HAS GIVEN ME NUMEROUS PROBLEMS AND THE PROBLEMS STILL CANNOT BE RESOLVED.

Word of advice - STAY CLEAR FROM THE VW BRAND.
