VW LINDSAYSKER MIDRAND STRIPPED MY CAR!! I DROVE IT IN BUT HAD TO TOW IT OUT OF THERE!
I drove my car to Lindsay Saker Midrand for an inspection and they gave me back a stripped car which was not moving and the engine was taken out and put in the boot of the car.
The car was moving when I took it in. Before they started they talked me they would charge me an inspection fee regardless of whether they fix the car or not. I told them to wait and I wanted to check with VW SA if warranty would cover this. VW SA said they wouldn't know if they will cover the repair or not unless if the inspection was done and they knew what the issue was. By the time I called Lindsay Saker Midrand the service advisor, Louise Heydeman, told me they has started working on the car already. Before I even gave them permission.
They inspected the car and told me it was clutch failure and that warranty would not pay for it, I would have to pay for it myself. I had a bit of a back on forth between VW SA and Lindsay Saker Midrand until I finally gave up and told them not to fix the car and I will go and collect it. Lindsay Saker Midrand told me I have to pay over R6000 for the inspection they did. After I tried negotiating for a while with them for a lower price and I did not have the money at the time. As a result, my car was at Lindsay Saker Midrand for almost 2 months.
They finally said I can come collect the car and only pay just over R2000. I went to collect my car, I paid the money they wanted first but when I asked for the car they asked me if I brought a tow truck with me. I told them no, as I drove the car in I expect to drive it out. Louise Heydeman took me to their service area and showed me my car and the gearbox was out, everything in the engine was loose and a few things stripped out. They told me that's what R2000 get me. A stripped car.
I refused to take the car and left it there. There was no communication after that from Lindsay saker and I was not getting help from VW SA. I then decided to go with a tow truck and get my car at least since I already paid.
I got my car and took home and I got a couple of people to come fit in a new clutch plate. During the repair, we started noticing that a few things were missing from the car. The battery was overcharged and was not dead, lights were missing, the boot no longer open and a few other small items were missing.
I called Lindsay Saker and they told . me to come fetch some of the few items that were missing and they told me to email them the rest of the list and they will look for them and give them to me. After I emailed them then they told me they will not be assisting me any further with everything that is missing.
I called VW SA again and arranged a meeting with the dealer principal, Mr DP Sepholwane. In the meeting with him he told me he wouldn't have accepted the car if it was him and I told him I refused initially but I had paid. He then said I should send him and email with what is missing and he will pay half of it and I will pay the rest.
He even failed to let me know that the battery was under warranty and I could get a new one for free instead he wanted me to pay half the price for the battery and everything else. And he said I will pay full price for the boot to be fixed.
VW SA could not assist with anything as they seem to have no power over dealership and cannot do anything to assist anyone.
Horrible treatment from the dealership. From management to the service advisors and technicians. Taking my car to Lindsay saker has proven costly and I'm am paying for it everyday! And VW SA can only stand by and watch and do nothing as all.
