Unauthorized sharing of personal information

Dear VW Finance,

I am beyond outraged at the blatant disregard for my privacy and personal information. I have been trying to reach out to formally lay a complaint about your completely unacceptable and disrespectful practice of sharing customer details with third-party insurance providers.

Today, I received an unsolicited call from a Budget Insurance consultant named Lebo/Lerato—someone I have never engaged with before. To my shock, this individual had access to my personal information, something that should be private and protected. When I questioned how they obtained my details, they blatantly stated that VW Finance had shared them.

On what grounds do you believe you have the right to distribute my personal information to external insurance companies? Do I appear incapable of securing my own insurance? This is a direct violation of my privacy and an absolute breach of professionalism. More importantly, it is a clear disregard for the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

I demand an immediate explanation as to why my information was shared, who authorized this breach, and what corrective actions you plan to take. If I do not receive a satisfactory response, I will escalate this matter to the appropriate regulatory authorities.
