Go figure
My first bad experience started when I purchased a VW vivo sedan . After a few months on the road , the car started switching off totally even whilst driving on the freeway. Unable to even turn the steering wheel I reported this to be and they said it was due to a head gasket leak. EPC light would come on and engine switch off. I then purchased a brand new Polo which was serviced regularly. On the last service I enquired into upgrading my service plan and was told by the service consultant that I should wait whilst they look into it. Many weeks went by and when I enquired again the lady told me that my plan was completed and cannot be extended as it was past the date. This was no fault of mine as I had enquired well before the maintenance plan expired. This I a sales ploy to ensure customer now have to pay for services and defects as they know the car is now at the period where defects occur. The first 3 years of maintenance plan the car did not need to be touched cause it was brand new and still running in. When I further enquired with the service consultant lady to ensure my engine cambelt gets changed as this was my last free service she said the plan does not cover those items and besides my cambelt will be changed at 120000km. I felt a bit distraught thinking that I had gained nothing out of my very expensive 3year maintenance plan . To add to my dilemma when I arrived home I found that my tailight was not working. I bought a bulb and changed it myself. A week later the headlight was also blown. Seems very pecu**** that after a final service at barons Tokai that all my lights would suddenly become defective. I then took my car recently to a private VW service agent who did a service and he explained to me that I don't have to change no cambelt as I have a stainless steel belt which is enveloped in the engine with constant oil lubrication. I thought to myself if I had taken my car to that dealership they were gonna charge me for something that would not even be done. To top it off I still have not received any calls from the service consultant about my maintenance plan extension. That's VW aftersales experience for thought.
