VW Golf 7 suspension noises and wheel bearing. VW does not want to pay to fix issue.

To whom it may concern. I have been driving VW’s for a very long time and have been loyal to your brand for many years. I had bought a 2nd hand 2014 VW Golf 7 R, with a 5 years/ 90 000km full motor plan last year March 2018. Since about September 2018 I had been complaining about suspension noises from the front of the vehicle while driving. At my work place we have ba*****t parking and in a ba*****t things echo. This was clear for the VW technicians to hear and confirmed they hear the noises I was referring to. The vehicle would make a rubber on rubber noise when going over bumps or turning and then a ticking noise like the brakes where cooling off, although the vehicle is still in motion. I am a big car fanatic so I know a lot about cars, and to me you will never hear your brakes cooling off, while driving, even when reversing out the drive way and turning the vehicle would make a knocking noise. I had taken the car to VW Autohaus Centurion, taken the technicians and service managers for test drives; although they all tell me and I quote “its normal suspension noises”. If it’s a noise... it’s a noise, how can you tell your customers it’s a NORMAL NOISE????? We are not stupid, if a noise was not there before, and now it is there, especially from the suspension components…it is not normal…did your vehicle come out of the factory with that noise? If you can tell me yes for that, then you can tell me it’s a normal noise. I had taken the vehicle a number of times to the same dealer with the same “normal noises” that I am unhappy about, I am not going to drive my vehicle until it is beyond repairs for me to do something about these noises, hence me bringing my car back and forth to VW. So my question to VW is, WHY DOES MY VEHICLE NEED TO BE BEYOND REPAIRS FOR YOU TO FIX THE VEHICLE? And then on top of that you will decline fixing the vehicle because you will tell me I was negligent in not bring the vehicle sooner. Anyway VW had changed the top shock mountings of the vehicle, although noise still persists, even louder since this point. After numerous complaining about the noises and my vehicle going in and out of the dealer for the same “Normal Noises” which had now got louder and louder as the months went by with the same response, all our Golf 7 ranges are making these noises, so we can’t fix it because it’s a normal noise. My vehicle’s 5 year/ 90 000km motor plan had come to an end 25 May 2019 with the noise not fixed, also asked VW to make sure the vehicle is 100% before the vehicles motor plan expires, it is now the 18th June 2019, 3 weeks after the vehicles motor plan has expired.… the vehicle is now making a much louder noise to that of the rubbing and ticking noise in the start of all this, more distinctive on the right driver side and now I am told oh its Wheel bearing that needs to be changed and it costs around R5000 for 1 wheel bearing and advised I need to replace both to be safe and YOU AS THE CUSTOMER need to pay because it’s unfortunate that your motor plan expired. Thank you VW for WAITING for my vehicle motor plan to expire for you to do anything, in order for you not needing to claim from motor plan and make me fork out money for VW for a NORMAL NOISE that I have been complaining about for a very log time. It’s just that when I complained it was not as loud as it is now. So therefore it was left because at that time it’s a NORMAL NOISE. This is highly disgusting that I have to literally beg and plead for VW to fix a noise I am not happy with on my vehicle, which I know is not a NORMAL NOISE. I literally have to drive my vehicle to a point where the vehicle is none drivable for you to do anything. Is this the service we get from supporting your brand? Is this the type of advice and comments you give your brand? That it makes NORMAL NOISES? It that something you will put on your adverts to sell your vehicles??? From experience, a wheel bearing does not just all of a sudden fail; it takes a very long time for it to get to the point where it makes a hell of a noise, when left unattended or not fixed early. A common symptom of wheel bearing noises before it completely fails – ticking or clicking noise from wheel when in motion. Also a common symptom of CV joints wearing out. Explanation from google on wheel bearing wear - When the seal on the wheel bearing is broken or damaged, the noise starts out very faint and becomes louder over time. I am now left without a vehicle, as I refuse to drive the vehicle with a now completely failed Wheel bearing, EVEN though I was told by the service advisor “it’s safe to drive the vehicle like that because nothing is falling apart”… I have to arrange transport or take UBER to get to work, which is not cheap. We always get treated like we are stupid and what the technician diagnosis is correct. The technicians in my opinion DON’T do all the checks, if you take your vehicle in and you say there is a noise and it sounds like it’s from the shock or the brakes, that’s all VW will check. They do not diagnose or investigate; they just check what they customer says they hear and if it’s not that…then its NORMAL! Even when I booked my car into VW last month because it sounded like the brakes were finished, the Advisor told me, and I quote “oh when we check brakes, we don’t check the pads on the inside of the calibre, we only check the outside pad”. A typical example of them not diagnosing and making sure ALL the brake pads are the correct or adequate measurements. I want VW to replace my wheel bearings, and as advised by VW Autohaus BOTH left and right need to be changed because it’s safer. As well as a courtesy vehicle as I am now left without transport, I refuse to be treated as a customer this way. I will be going to the Ombudsman if this matter is not dealt with by 19th June 2019.
