De Vrije Burger – V&A Waterfront, Cape Town

What an absolute disappointment! This was, without a doubt, the worst burger I’ve had in years. The prices are shockingly high – on par with an upscale restaurant – but the quality is nowhere near even a decent take-away joint.

The burger might have looked okay, but the patty was dry, bland, and had the texture of cardboard. I could barely swallow it. For a place carrying Bertus Basson’s name, this is unacceptable. I don’t pay for a name on the sign; I pay for a good meal, and this was a complete letdown.

Save your money – there are far better places to eat at the Waterfront.
