We have been living in a complex for over 3 years. Did nor hear a word from them. We installed an Aircon it was ons for over a year and then all of a sudden we received a fine. Then they started getting out of hand. We received fines for absolutely everything. For 3 years we had 2 dogs now after living there for so long they want as to get rid of our dogs. Inhumane and pathetic people. We arranged a meeting with one of the owners and they just did not show up. They send people into your yard without permission to remove stuff. The rules differ everything you phone them. UNPROFESSIONAL - PATHETIC - DISGUSTING PLACE. Only care about the amount of money they can make.

Whilst it was extremely disappointing to receive this negative review, we remained open minded and checked up on the facts that led to you sending it. When moving into a community scheme (Homeowners’ Association or a Sectional Title Scheme), owners and their tenants are bound by the CONDUCT RULES and ARCHITECTURAL GUIDELINES of that specific scheme. The CONDUCT RULES specify that residents need to apply in writing to the Board of Trustees to keep pets, and any limitations on number and sizes of dogs that may be kept. Owners also need to apply in writing to the Trustees prior to installing air conditioners, satellite dishes etc. Why? To ensure that the area it is installed will not impact negatively on the aesthetics of the complex. The Rules of complexes are not made by VON WIELLIGH PROPERTY MANAGEMENT or by the Board of Trustees – it is approved by the OWNERS at an Owners’ Meeting, where after it becomes valid and enforceable. VPM are all about upholding the standards in the complexes we manage and we strive to ensure that the investments of our owners grow and their investments are protected. This we do by acting upon the instructions of the Board of Trustees to enforce and uphold the rules of the complex when required. Imagine a complex where no rules are enforced and everything goes - within a short period of time standards will drop. Shortly, re-sale values will plummet too, for sure! To conclude: when individuals invest or move into a complex, they should always first consult the RULES of that scheme to ensure it fits their specific circumstances. If not, we end up in situations such as this where the managing agent are being blamed for the owner’s initial negligence and oversight.
