Volvo Assist left my wife stranded on the highway for almost 5 hours yesterday!
Yesterday my wife traveled from Dullstroom to Sun City for work. Before Witbank her 2013 Volvo XC70 D5 just stopped. Around 9h00 she called Volvo assist for help. It was promised but an hour later she phoned again to inquire when the help will arrive. She was told they have no record of her first call. So the process was started again. Still they were unable to give her an estimated time of arrival, but was told they will come back with an answer, which of course never happened. Her last communication with Volvo was around 10h30 when they promised, again, to let her know when help will arrive. To date she has had no further communication from Volvo. Before 10hoo yesterday I started to get involved and also phoned the call center to ask when help will arrive. I was told they have no record of her calls. After numerous promises and calls with no results, I, in exasperation phoned the Pretoria Volvo dealer principle. He explained to me that they actually have nothing to do with Volvo Assist but he will see what he can do. Around 11h10 he phoned me and said he has spoken to Volvo Assist and they assured him a pickup truck will arrive at my wife's location at 11h45 together with a rental vehicle. Of course this did not happen so eventually I phoned the AA, which I figured out by this stage is acting for and on behalf of Volvo Assist. I demanded to speak to a supervisor. He then told me a pickup truck will be there at 13h30. In the meantime someone from the AA rentals contacted me and told me that the if I don't deliver the Europecar rental back to Witbank there will be a drop off fee of R1000-00 plus! At this stage I was so enraged by the total lack of service that I told her that Volvo can shove the rental and that I will go and pick up my wife myself. On the way there I was contacted again and told Volvo had decided to waive the drop off fee. But by this time I was so fed up by all the empty promises, lack of service and general incompetence that I told her that Volvo can keep their rental as I wanted nothing more to do with them! By the time I arrived at my wife's location the truck had indeed arrived around 13h30 and was on its way to the Pretoria Dealership. We arrived back in Centurion where we stay at around 16hoo yesterday!
A few notes. 1.My wife of 57 has been extremely traumatized by the whole incidence and the uncer*****y created by Volvo's shockingly poor service and of course concern over her personal safety. 2. I tried to phone the Volvo HO twice but listening to a voice message and blurred music for more than 10 min on both occasions, I hung up. 3. Surely after someone phones twice and you still don't have a record of the call alarm bells must ring somewhere and the complaint should be escalated or investigated. 4. When you phone Volvo assist they ask for the vehicle's VIN nr. Why? Has anyone lately tried to read a vehicles VIN nr on the license disk. I am 58 years old and I need a magnifying glass to be able to read the numbers. 5. Is Volvo's computer system so archaic that they cannot find the vehicle details on the system but rely on a stressed owner to provide them with the VIN nr? 6. How can Volvo Assist or the AA not provide an estimated time of arrival, especially after numerous requests? My wife has been a big fan of Volvo's and her first Volvo was an 850 when Volvo returned to SA. Since then she has had 4 more Volvo's. But this incidence has shaken our faith in Volvo and their attitude to service or lack thereof severely!
SHAME ON YOU VOLVO SOUTH AFRICA!!!
