VW Tableview
So in Dec a consultant from VW called me to say my UP is due for a service in Jan and they said they would send me a quote. Very proactive but I never received the quote. I called them on Monday to book the vehicle in and requested a quote. I was told R1700-R1900, I accepted this and my wife took the vehicle in on Tuesday morning. She was told it would be R1900 and asked if she would like to pay then and there. She declined as I would go pay on collection. Later on I got a call from the consultant to say the service would be R2773? I was told the break fluid service had to be done as the vehicle was 2 years old. I went to the workshop and asked the consultant why I was not told this when the quote was requested? She said the telesales person would only book for the service and not look at the history of the vehicle. I found this very pecu**** as to me a quote should pretty much be accurate. I asked her why I wasn’t given a option to proceed with this work to which she answered that she had told me when she called me that she was giving me the option. I disagree with this as I was told on the call that my service was now R2773? Then it turned out it was compulsory due to the car being 2 years old. So here is my complaint: Why was I not quoted correctly in the first place? Why was I told by the consultant that she called me to give me a option to proceed ? Only to be told afterwords by the same consultant that is was compulsory? I was very unhappy about this as it is a significant amount of money more, especially in the times we are at the moment. Reluctantly I paid and left and told them my wife would collect the car. Here’s the cherry on top. My wife left her iphone charger cable in the car and soon collection it was missing??? To be told it must be at home as they didn’t see it in the car, and their staff don’t have iPhones? I don’t really expect this to be resolved but find it very disappointing from this VW branch considering that both the UPs I currently own were bought from this dealership brand new. I have owned 8 VWs in my time, 5 of which were bought brand new. I must be honest I have not received service like this from Ford where I bought my Ranger brand new. They always on point and you always know what you in for. Maybe the Ranger was a good step in the direction of a new vehicle brand for me to move forward with.
