Un-ethical business and bad service.
On the 4th of January 2023 my car stopped in the middle of highway in Cape Town around 03:00 am and it just didn’t have power and i called my insurance and insurance said i must call VW SA as my car is fairly new and still under warranty, which i did call VW and they were soo quick to help and my car was towed to VW Table View. On the 5th morning i called if the car was with them and they confirmed that it is with them a mechanic will give me a call, which he did my car was assigned to Rickado. He called and said they’ll diagnose the car and see what could be the issue but my car is still under warranty so it is covered. He’ll give me a call around to, which he didn’t and i thought it’s okey maybe they still need more time. I called the next day to check and i was told that his not at work, his off. Then i asked can’t someone else help me as i need an update about my car and the phone went to Rikus and he said that they haven’t started with the car and they will start with it on Monday, told him i can’t wait for Monday as i need to travel back with my kids back to Joburg and he said okey he will ask the mechanics to help. He called me talking about mechanical staff which i didn’t understand said that they need to take out the gearbox and see what may be the cause and if it’s an external issue they won’t pay.
He called while i was on my way to them and i said okey i am on my way we will talk when i get there. I quickly called the sale-man i bought my car from and told him what was being said and he was shocked that the car is not even over 18 000 km why would they say that even before checking it and what about the warranty. Well i got there and he still explained the same and said i need to give authority for them to strip the car which i said they can go ahead, he said they will come back to me.
Called after 3 hours and said that it’s the clutch, it’s blue and it won’t be covered by the warranty as it’s negligence from my side. I refused as i knew that i did not do anything that will temper the clutch and in October or November my breaks were making noise and clutch releases later and took it in and they checked and they said the breaks are still fine it could be the dirt on the disk which they’ll clean them otherwise everything else is fine. Until this happened
Rikus came back with a quote of R+- 16 000 for the clutch and i said i don’t have that kind of money, called the sale man bought the car from and he said no they being ridiculous and cannot i tow the car to them in Pretoria which that was gonna cost me as i was in CPT with the car. I ended up calling Rikus asking if can i take my car and he said i’ll still need to pay R6000 for the diagnoses and i was shocked as i was not aware of any of that. I said i was not told that and did not sign anything with them and i don’t have that money and i need my car. Story short i took my car at VW stripped gearbox outside, batteries etc out and he was soo rude to me and ******.
I wanna know how the warranty far goes? As i believe that if it does not cover such it’s just useless, also i am not a mechanic how do i know that whatever was said was through or they just want us to pay while we have warranties. My car is a 2022 and still on 16+ km for it to give me clutch problems already! No No No i need my car checked otherwise VW will have to take it back.
