On the 29th of January I saw an add on Gumtree for various I.T courses. I contacted the number given on the add and informed Vusumzi Ncwadi (the contact person) that I am interested in doing the CCNA course (Cisco certified network associate ) Vusumzi Ncwadi informed me that the course will take place in March, but in the meantime I could sign up for the I.T essentials course which is a foundation phase course that sort of gives you an overview of everything related to I.T, he informed me that the course would cost a once off R500 I accepted and immediately made payment. I completed the course with no problems. Upon completion of the I. T essentials course - 26th February - Vusumzi Ncwadi asked me if I am still interested in doing the CCNA course to which I responded yes, he told me that the course would start in mid March I made a down payment deposit of R1000 on the first of March. On the 27th of March after numerous attempts to get hold of Vusumzi Ncwadi, he finally responded and informed me that the course has been delayed to 15th of April as they were still in the process of recruiting students, I then told Vusumzi that we are already in the first quarter of the year and I'm just sitting at home, and have passed on many employment opportunities, because I have been determined to complete this course, so I can't wait any longer and would like to cancel, Vusumzi Ncwadi then convinced me not to and assured me that it'll only be two more weeks and that I should just hang in there, I asked Vusumzi if I could do some reading of the CCNA course in the meantime on the netcad online platform, to which he responded yes he would open that section for me I then agreed that I would wait the two weeks and read up on the course in the meantime at least now I would have something to do until class starts . On the 12th, 13th 14th and 15th of April I tried reaching out to him as again as class was supposed to start, he got back to me on the 17th April informing me that class has been canceled as it is no longer economical viable for him to continue due to lack of student capacity, but he would like to offer me a 50% discount on the course and I could complete it online. I told him that completing it online was not an option for me as I don't have WiFi at home and would need to buy data which is twice as much and would amount to more than what I would spend on transportation to and from class, my laptop also is very old and unreliable, but besides that it is not what I signed up for - I payed for face to face class time. I asked Vusumzi for a refund he informed me that he would send a refund form the following day and ended up sending me an email requesting a written cancelation from me, before I responded to this I sought legal advice from a family friend who informed me that I should not send a written cancelation as that could be seen as me being the one pulling out of our agreement and therefore would have to pay "termination of agreement fees " as stipulated in the contract he emailed me (which I have not signed and never seen before ) I informed Vusumzi that I cannot send a written cancelation as I am not the one opting out of our agreement. Vusumzi then made plenty excuses one of which was that I had been reading up on the course online on my netcad account so I do not qualify for a refund, I then told Vusumzi that I have been reading up online on my netcad account, but what would this benefit me, I have not received a certificate, haven't written a test, I haven't received any online simulations, or lab resources, it adds no value to my cv and everything I have read on the netcad account is easily available on YouTube and various online platforms. I have literally just browsed through a few of the chapters and watched YouTube videos as it was easier and similar to a lecture you would receive in class. After a lot of back and forths and Vusumzi trying to trick me and be sleek, he finally told me to go ahead and take him to court. I have been s****ing money together every month to pay this course, I'm a single unemployed mother just trying to better my life and the life of my child. I payed on time every month with no disputes and have nothing to show for it, it is now April and I am still at home with R2000 out of pocket. I have written a letter to Cisco and hope that they take the matter up urgently as I believe this goes against everything their standards and brand. I have written emails to datatec an investment company that supposedly is there to uplift the community through investing in technological businesses for the betterment of young people, datatec are his investors one would think that something like this would bother them, but nope, ultimately it's all about one thing it all boils down to the money no matter who suffers no matter what the price. Forgetting that ordinary folk live in a country where the cost of living is extremely high, nobody has money to through away or waste. I am extremely disappointed
