Terrible Take-away
On 2 January 2018 I ordered the following from VIVA Mexican Kitchen and Bar Durbanville for take-away: Mac&cheese chorizo *****, Bowl of Nachos with guacamole, Pulled pork burrito, and a bacon, feta and chedder Quesadiĺla. I really love mexican food and heard a few good reviews from friends who have been there to eat and drink. So with this take-away order I am only commenting on the food.
The food was a huge let down in general and I was particularly disgusted by the awful taste of a definately off guacamole. There was a serious lack of effort which went into preparing these trademark mexican dishes.
The mac&cheese ***** were good and original. Well done. However the bad guacamole was on the burrito and with the nachos. The pulled pork was quite nice, but it tasted like something I could have made at home myself, however lets rather blame the guacamole. The quesadilla had the minimum amount of toppings. It was ridiculous. No melted chedder or taste of feta. It seemed like only a handful of bacon kips and some sauce.
To emphasize: The guacamole was really bad. Not very original... as it looked like a bunch of avos were stuck into a blender and wholah!... guac. Seriously?!
Apart from the guac spoiling the party, apparently the word nachos means just a handful of tortilla corn chips... that's it. Please Google nachos before you false advertise it like that. Where is the cheese, salsa, jalepenos or sour cream maybe. I understand its only stated as "a bowl of nachos with guacamole", but please don't be so dull.
Lastly, and of astronomical importance: produce good and tasty guacamole. It can make or break a mexican dish. Guess it broke this time.
Very disappointed, as I was really expecting a great experience from a place I've been wanting to try out for a long time.
