Generators
We pay every month to work out at the gym but every time the power goes off they tell us to leave. No effort has been made to install generators. When I took on the staff about the problem one staff member rep**** to me ''I must take it up with eskom'' most people work during the day the only time we have to work out is after work at night. We pay but we cant gym when we want to. I have been told 5 or 6 times to leave we are wasting petrol money to get to the gym, and me and other member are sick about it now.

Hi Estian,
Thanks for getting in touch about this. We understand that the ongoing load shedding is a frustration for all members, as it is for ourselves too.
We have done some considerable research into the feasibility of purchasing generators to assist during blackouts (currently we do have emergency lighting).
Unfortunately the power demands of running clubs such as ours safely are enormous. Not only do we have to keep equipment running, but the facility needs to be well ventilated, cooled and with hot water available for showers etc. The cost associated with these generators is prohibitive at this stage. However, we will continue to look at every possible way to keep our clubs open for as long as possible in the event of both scheduled and unscheduled power outages. To this end, we will endeavour to only ever close our clubs when ambient lighting is insufficient to continue exercising safely.
