Dishonest & careless

Please read this before committing to the month to month package blindly.

When you hear month to month it sounds nice as you can go to the gym at months that you have budgeted for.

Other months when you are a little short on money you can skip. Life is very unexpected therefore this package sounded great.

a family friend an I signed up at Viva to start our journey, we chose the month to month option and had to give our banking details even though we requested to pay each month we were going to gym.

This already should have been a red flag, but as young adults that have never been in a situation where we have been deceived before and lost money we didn’t think anything of it.

I will admit that we did not read the terms and conditions as we were promised to receive a confirmation of membership on email with the needed information. On this email it clearly states the following: If you chose MONTH TO MONTH MEMBERSHIP, then this is the flexible monthly membership which does not have a fixed commitment.

We made use of their facilities for a month, we agreed that the upcoming month thereafter we won’t be able to go to the gym as we both had to take our cars in for a service.

We would have returned to the gym if it wasn’t for what happened next. a debit order went off from both our accounts.

I phoned in and was assisted by a lady, I explained to her that I really can not afford to have that money deducted that month and that it doesn’t make any sense as I agreed to the month to month option.

She was so cold and careless towards me and said that I should have cancelled online and PAID a cancellation fee and she warned me that if I were to reverse the payment they will deduct double the amount the next month. What?! This wasn’t discussed with us at all when we registered at the gym.

The least they could have done was email us the contracts that we have signed after registering so that we could have read through the terms and conditions without feeling rushed. At least we would have been aware of the situation before it escalated.

They continue to deduct money from my friend’s account. Money she really needs to get through the month. As for me, I made sure not to have money in the bank account details I gave them.

Please do not fall for this. I have read some reviews where it happened to other people as well. These people do not care about you or anyone. They only see money and not the person.
