Worst sign on experience

Today (2/1/18) I phoned Virgin Active to enquire about joining. The sales person (Itumeleng Masevhe) offered me a 2 free months (Jan & Feb) upon signing a 12 month contract. He informed me that he would process the application telephonically and would email me a form to sign, which he did. We agreed that it is only the R99 joining fee that is payable and no Card or other fees would be applicable and the form that he sent me ( that I signed) communicated this clearly.

Itumeleng then phoned me to confirm that I should just go to reception (at VA Rustenburg) and would be given a card since the R99 fee had already been paid and membership activated so that I could start gym.

Upon arrival and explaining the above, I was ushered to the sales office where the Sales Manager (Tshepang) wanted to generate a new application despite my new membership being active. After refusing the duplicate application he became upset and proceeded to do the following: 1. Tell me that I am liable to pay fees that, according to my signed contract, are not ayable (R0.00 charges for those fees) and that it “would cost me a lot of time and money” to do try and persist with the original signing (Done with Itumeleng) 2. I then used my phone to call Itumeleng Masevhe to inform him of the challenges I was facing and asked him to sort it out. I the handed the phone to a visibly angry Tshepang who very quickly threatened and shouted at Itumeleng for taking his sale/client and informed him/his branch.

Thepiso has left me no choice but to seek a membership cancellation on the basis of breach of contract. To add to this, I would like compensation for my fuel and airtime used.
