Virgin debited my account monthly even though I had canceled the subscription.

I was a member at Virgin Active Victory Park until the price when up on my monthly subscription. I was not able to afford this new price so I ended my subscription to the gym where I recived a receipt of subscription cancellation. About 10 months down the line I found that they were debiting my account every month at the price I couldn't afford. I went back to victory Park where I asked for my money to be refunded back to me that they have wrongfully had taken from me. I was told that they couldn't do that because I was still seen as a member on the system even tho I had canceled it about 10 months before this. Virgin had taken my money and wouldn't give it back due to their inability to register my subscription cancellation.
