Virgin Active’s Inadequate Vehicle Security

Virgin Active’s Inadequate Vehicle Security

On 17 March 2026, at approximately 7:00 a.m., my Toyota Fortuner was ****** while I was inside Virgin Active Roodepoort (14th Avenue). Unfortunately, this is not the first incident of vehicle theft at this branch, nor at other Virgin Active gyms across the province.

The management and security team have consistently demonstrated incompetence and a lack of concern for member safety. At Roodepoort, access control is virtually non-existent: vehicles enter and exit without proper checks or verification. The exit boom remains open during busy periods, leaving the lone security guard overwhelmed and unable to focus on actual security duties.

Furthermore, only one guard patrols the premises during the night shift. When that guard leaves at 6:00 a.m., no one monitors the parking area during the day. This appears to be a cost-cutting measure at the expense of member safety.

Members pay substantial fees for Virgin Active’s services, yet management remains indifferent to implementing adequate security measures. This negligence is unacceptable, and urgent improvements are required to protect clients and their property.
