Virgin Active - The Point Gym - Refurbishment and Extreme increase in gym membership fees

After joining the Point Virgin Active a little more than a year ago, I was informed that the gym was to be refurbished. This was welcomed as the building was in need of it. However, towards the end of 2025, I was informed by email that the gym was to be upgraded to "a country club" and I was offered membership which would increase in cost by well over 100%, despite the continued 50% monthly contribution from Vitality. The amenities offered may have undergone a marginal upgrade but practically its still much the same as before, with no clear benefit to justify the extreme increased cost. Essentially, it is now poor value for money.
