Virgin active refuses to close account

Its been over a year trying to cancel the virgin active account. Even after informing them numerous times that i am on debt review and cannot afford this membership they refuse to close this account..they keep debiting my account every single month, when i call i am told the account is cancelled but the next thing they debit the account i dont know what to do anymore. I really frustrated and just want to cancel the virgin active please. Or i will take it up with the ombudsman.
