Virgin Active Random Premium Increase

<p>As per the norm with virgin active when your contract expires you are given the option to choose between the 2-year contract or the 1-year contract and I always took the 2-year contract because it worked out cheaper. I've been doing this for the past 4 or so years I've been with them and it worked out well. So for the past year and a couple months I have been paying R354 (https://snag.gy/RXjWvh.jpg) and that is fine I agreed to this contractually.</p> <p>"As per your membership agreement, from 1 April 2017 an annual increase to your membership fee will come into effect and your new monthly membership fee will be R450.00. This allows us to reinvest in your club, making sure you always have the latest and greatest ways to stay active, motivated and happy.You'll be coming to the end of your initial term with us on 31 March 2017. If for any reason you don't want your membership to continue on a month-to-month basis after your initial term, please make sure to let us know prior to 31 March 2017." See full email here >> (https://snag.gy/W4SAo1.jpg)</p> <p>So you can see that on march my contract would end and I would no longer pay R345 and the new price would be R450.</p> <p>This is where it gets interesting. 2nd of Jan I get a notification that Virgin active deducted R366 from my account (see link >> https://snag.gy/3QDbeE.jpg) instead of the standard R345. Thinking it's a mistake or maybe the new premium prices kicked in early I go to my local gym to ask about it and they get me in contact with head office. Head office tells me that this is the price I was meant to pay 12 months ago. <br />Obviously, this makes no sense to me because I signed up for a 2-year contract which stipulates that I pay R354, not R366. The matter got escalated to a supervisor because I stated that this is not my fault! I did not sign up for this R366 and it is not contractual. They can't randomly charge me R366 when they feel like it bare in mind my contract only ends on the 31st of march so this R366 is not even my new premium it's just a random increase which comes in between my R345 and my new R450 premium.</p> <p>I love the club I work out at it's great, I only have great things to say about them (Virgin Active Maponya). I am just unhappy about this random charge that came my way. I do not even think this is worth going to the lawyers for so if Virgin Active is reading this then please let's fix this before it gets nasty.</p>
