Virgin active poor service

I have wanting to cancel my membership, when I joined I was told i can cancel anytime> i will only be liabe for 60% of the remaining months. for the past few months I have been wanting to cancel, but I am told the rules have changed i must pay off the account. is that how you attract customers?????? By giving empty promises???????????
