Virgin Active NEWMARKET -
<p>My family joined Virgin Active New Market in December 2016. We were sold our contract by Princess Molefe for my husband, myself and my two children ages 5 and 11 at the time. We were told our 5 year old could only go to the Kids Club and the 11 year old could play on the computers and do only cardio exercises, no treadmill and no weights – the pool only under supervision. We were told there was no excuse not to go to gym as the kids to come with us. We paid for their cards and pay the monthly subscriptions. We have gone to gym since then with both our kids. Now 7 months later on the 27th June 2017, we are rudely interrupted in our spinning class because our now 12 year old is not allowed to use the computers without his parent’s supervision. The reason is that they have had problems at the virgin active gyms in SA where a child nearly drowned in the swimming pool. I fail to understand how my son who has been the Junior Victor Ludorum at his school each year from grade 3 and goes to coaching sessions 4 days a week (not swimming lessons), can’t sit at the computer playing kids computer games while his parents are at their spinning class, because he will drown in the pool. Ms. Manager – Sonja Holm – has now referred us to the virgin active website to check terms and conditions, even though we did not join virgin active via the website. We now have a gym membership that we have to be with our child at all times while he is at the gym, instead of actually gymming to get to fit. Ms Manager, refuses to even consider giving us an indemnity form which we can sign, to say that we will take full responsible and absolve Virgin Active of any liability if our child should drown while sitting at their computers. The pool is secured with glass fencing and gate. We accept that our 6 year old cannot wonder around the gym. This is totally ridiculous and unacceptable to expect us to supervise our 12 year old and spin at the same time. These rules were NOT discussed with us when we signed up and we joined the gym because both our kids could come with. I fail to see how 7 months later Ms Manager and her staff, now want to enforce this rule.</p> <p> </p>
