Virgin active membership

my worst experience as a first-time customer of virgin active gym. my partner and i join the virgin active gym with expectation of a better service and a better explanation of the contract regarding what we are getting ourselves into. we only attended the GYM for 3 weeks and mind you we have paid immediately after signing the contract

because our expectations as new customers were not meet, i contacted virgin active client just to cancel the membership, i am told that they need four thousand rand (R4000.00) EACH PERSON just to for cancellation of membership. what a reap off, i do not find any sense into this and they do not explain to clients when they offer a contract,
