VIRGIN ACTIVE LONEHILL ACTIVELY CONNING POTENTIAL MEMBERS!

I was approached by the Virgin Active sales lady, Siyanda when shopping at Lonehill Shopping Centre at the end of October 2017. She urged me to join the gym for a R50 joining fee and a free bag. I rep****, I would rather join through Discovery Vitality where I pay a once off fee and enjoy far greater savings and long term benefits as opposed to joining the gym directly. Siyanda convinced me that I would be able to join the gym and immediately be activated as a Discovery Vitality Member if I decided to join with her before the end of that month. I reconfirmed with Siyanda when I returned the following Wednesday to sign up and pay the joining fee. She confirmed that I would definitely be activated on Vitality if I signed my contract with her instead of going directly to Discovery Vitality. Siyanda ****. A month went by, I believed I was a Vitality Gym Member with Lonehill Virgin Active, and my first debit order of approximately R650 was deducted from my account. I didn't think anything of it.. I became concerned when I tried to load my Virgin active account on my Vitality profile on the discovery website and found I was not an active Vitality Virgin active member. I phoned and left many messages for Siyanda and another manager Shepherd during this time, and eventually went into the gym in December when my calls were not being responded to. Shepherd was not available and Siyanda was on leave. Shepherd was insistent that I wait until Siyanda was back in January to confirm she did in fact say that i would immediately become a vitality gym member, and was adamant that I was not activated as a vitality member and still needed to pay an additional R1850 to Vitality to become an active Vitality gym member. I immediately asked Shepherd to cancel my contract, as it had been sold to me under false pretences and I felt conned. I was convinced at this point neither he nor Siyanda would do anything to rectify the lie and I would be tied into a bogus contract for 24 months which I had not agreed to. Shepherd said under no circumstances could I cancel my contract without a cancelation fee .. I was disgusted. In January I called the gym again but Siyanda was not available. I contacted Shepherd a few times, and eventually refused to pay and canceled my debit order with Virgin Active as I was not prepared to pay for a contract I was conned into signing. I was harassed by the collections department and eventually contacted Virgin Active Headquarters Cape Town and was given Mr ***tons mobile number , I sent him an In-depth message as he was not responding to my calls. I was called by Malicious Abrahams, the Lonehill Virgin Active Manager who immediately expedited the cancellation of my contract and sent me an email to confirm such. He assured me this would be the last I ever heard of this problem . I was satisfied and made it clear, I would never set foot in ANY Virgin Active Gym ever again, I would rather join Planet Fitness or Viva after being conned like this. He apologised and the case was closed. Today, I received an sms from a collections agency MBD INC. on behalf of Virgin Active, REF: ********** ********** 93 demanding I pay arrears of R6625.00, Again Virgin Active are showing their conniving colours, and I refuse to be maliciously harassed, and ******ed from in this manner. Any suggestions from the public on how to get this bunch to desist from harassing me would be appreciated.
