How can Virgin Active debt money when the contract has ended and have requested to cancel the membership? Is it a standard to ignore cancellation of contracts and tie people down to getting their money.

I went to Virgin Active Greenacres and requested to cancel my contract and I was told it will be cancelled but their system is offline. Now I found out I owe money for the months after I cancelled my membership. They are ***********
