Virgin Active Hatfield: Not up to the Expected Standard

I recently took a membership at Virgin Active's Hatfield Branch in Pretoria. Its location is perfect for students, so I signed up despite the high membership cost. I have been a member at another branch, so I presumed it would be the same standard. The staff are friendly and helpful, which is always great. However, the general guidelines which are laid out by Virgin regarding towels and closed shoes are not enforced in the least, as I have frequently seen attendees without any shoes at all. On the surface of it this seems like a superficial matter, however, given that hundreds of people attend this branch I feel my point is self evident from a general hygiene perspective. Additionally, there is no regulation of the circuit, and using it in its intended way when the gym is busy is almost impossible. Given that the membership costs are perhaps the highest out of any of the gyms I am aware of, I would at least expect this to be regulated. Making the effort to exercise within a busy schedule should at least be pleasant and reasonably possible on the busiest of the gym's hours. Finally, I take note of Virgins strict "zero tolerance" approach to steroids, as well as rule against carrying a bag on the gym floor. I raise this as a matter of concern. I have on more than one occasion noticed gym attendees who enter the gym with large bags, and then do no exercise at all, but instead, fraternize with an array of other attendees. Which, unless this is a form of socializing which I am not aware of, seems very strange to me. Furthermore, there is a man, who stands outside the gym on the wheelchair access, for hours on end. He is always busy on his phone, and has been there more often than not when I have attended. I am in no way saying that this is gym-related. However, as a new member I find it strange that the staff, who have worked there for at least some time, have taken no notice of this at all. I have worked in a similar work environment before, and I can certainly say that, if some guy who apparently loves hanging out on the wheelchair ramp for hours on end, would not easily be overlooked as somewhat suspicious. I am also of the opinion that the policy of packing away equipment such as weights should be introduced, and a form of disciplinary measure should be implemented. The latter is in relation to my point about the use of the circuit during peak-time hours.
