Virgin Active Has Become a Security Disaster – Zero Accountability, Zero Communication

I am writing this review out of complete frustration after experiencing what can only be described as shocking negligence from Virgin Active.

On Sunday, 16 November, my cellphone was ****** from locker 108 at Virgin Active Kyalami Corner. I immediately reported the incident and expected a brand of Virgin Active’s size to treat this with urgency. Instead, what I received was:

No communication No update No follow-up No accountability

To this day, Virgin Active Kyalami Corner has not bothered to contact me even once. Not an email, not a call, not even a simple “we’re looking into it.” Absolutely nothing.

What makes this worse is that cellphone theft inside Virgin Active clubs has become a well-known problem nationally. Members everywhere are reporting the same issue — lockers being broken into, phones ******, syndicates operating inside the gyms — yet Virgin Active continues to pretend these are isolated events.

There is no warning to members, no additional security, no policy updates, and no visible effort to protect the very people who pay premium membership fees. The change rooms have essentially become soft targets for ********s, and Virgin Active is doing the bare minimum to stop it.

When a theft happens, you’re met with:

“We’ll get back to you.” (They don’t.) “You need a subpoena for CCTV.” (Even though YOU are in the footage.) “The manager isn’t on duty.” (Conveniently.)

Virgin Active’s handling of these incidents is beyond disappointing — it is pathetic. The lack of transparency and complete silence after a theft is unacceptable for a company of this size.

Members deserve to feel safe using the facilities. We deserve honest communication. We deserve action, not empty posters and unhelpful responses.

Right now, Virgin Active is failing on every front.

I will not recommend Virgin Active to anyone until they take member safety seriously and start communicating openly about these ongoing incidents.
