Virgin Active - gym membership mess up with accounts

I had a Virgin Active membership for about 20 years - a really long time! In 2023 I decided to cancel my membership due to personal health issues. I then also cancelled the debit orders. This year MBD lawyers called me to say that I have been handed over to them as I owe Virgin Active. Virgin Active never even called me to tell them I owed them money, they just handed me over! I never been handed over in my life! I got a shock when this happened. I spent an hour on the phone trying to get ahold of accounts at Virgin Active. After being cut off twice, I finally managed to speak to accounts and settled an amount of R272.50 (which was the balance I owed). A few weeks later, MBD calls me again at 7am to say I owe +/-R800 and they were so so rude to me - saying this is what their record says. I told them I received an email from Virgin Active with a nil balance account. I wanted to start my gym membership again but I dont think I will ever join a Virgin Active again after this incident. It is very disappointing!
